Patio Landscaping Design
Before we dig into how to design a
patio landscaping, first it s necessary to define what a patio is built for.
Patio can be constructed in two ways. In the first type the patio is an extension of the home building and is attached to it. The second type is where the
patio is out in the garden. A simple walkway connects the patio with the home building.
Let's have a look at both types of patio landscaping design ideas
|
|
1) Patio connected to the home building.
In this type of arrangement, the patio is an extension of your home. In most cases
attached to the living room or the dining room. this is place where you have have breakfast or have coffee with friends too. As it is an extension of the home it will have same kind of furniture and other facilities. In most cases a
patio is a semi-open space. Means it has walls or railing along it's sides up to
4 feet height.
You can use occasional hanging container plants in the patio. However don't overdo this , that's
because it will obstruct the beautiful of the surrounding garden and the very purpose of the patio won't get accomplished. Since an attached
patio is part of the building structure you can not obviously plant the flowerbeds on the floor. That's why container
gardening is the best option for such kind of patio landscaping design.
2) Patio out in the garden.
With this kind of patio you have plenty of option to play with all sorts of landscaping elements. You can merge various landscaping elements with the inside area of the patio. For example if you have a fishpond in the garden, you can have the
water body that gets merged inside the patio. You can create a rock garden that throws water in a fishpond. However before reaching the pond the water flows
through a small canal that flows from inside the patio. The portion that gets separated by the flowing canal can be connected using a small wooden or steel bridge.
Or even a portion of the lawn touching the inside of the patio. This kind of design will help to create visual connection between the inside and outside landscaped area.
When it comes to patio landscaping design. there are so many options available. You must first decide what you are looking for and generating ideas would be easy.
