Decorative Stone Landscaping
Any landscaping projects basically is categorized under two main branches.
1) Soft landscaping - This includes the use of plants, shrubs, flower beds, trees, use of water bodies such as pools, fountains.
2) Hard Landscaping - This includes the use of paving materials such as tiles, stone paving, brick paving and the use of
decorative stone in various ways.
For the purpose of decorative stone landscaping specific types of stones are available. The most popular types of stones that can be used in landscaping are

1) Marble
2) Granite
3) Quartzite
Depending upon where this stone is being used and for what purpose the size of the stone varies. In most case for the decorative purposes the stone is crushed into sizes
up to 1/2" to 3/4". Such kind of stone can be used as cladding on the walls or even
paving. In some cases it can also be used as fillers between the tile joints to ad some extra decorative element or for creating interesting patterns.
Depending upon what kind of design theme is used by the landscape architect, the
color of the decorative stone can be selected. The most popular colors of stones are.
Granite - Ruby red, Black cherry, Orange, Blue
Marble - Green, White
Quartzite - Green, Yellow
One more very common type of decorative stone that can be used in landscaping is Pebbles. Actually this is not a type
of stone ,but pebbles can be chipped out from large stones of the above mentioned types. Pebbles can be used where no human or vehicular movement is there. it create a great contrasting surface as that to the soft
landscaping surface such as lawns.
When use along the side of a lawn surface creates great visual attraction.
Pebbles are also used as decorating bottoms of fish ponds. Because pebbles have a smooth texture as compared other chipped stones can be a very good element in rock water gardens as well.
